About The MYC Program

We are delighted to be able to offer the highly acclaimed Music For Young Children program through the Renaissance School of Music. MYC is a program for children of all ages who want to learn music and have fun doing it. The program is designed to build a solid foundation of understanding and enjoyment of music.

Music For Young Children
Using keyboard playing, creative movement, music reading and theory, ear training and rhythm exercises, composing, and singing together, children learn to explore music and develop their strengths in a variety of musical areas. In addition, parents participate in the program and become learning companions with their children.

When To Begin

The MYC programs are designed in small, age-specific groups. The program is designed for children ages three to eight. There are four age-appropriate beginning levels, indicated below.

Ages 4 Sunshine I Sunshine II
Ages 5, 6 Sunbeams I Sunbeams II Sunbeams III
Ages 7, 8+ Moonbeams I Moonbeams II Moonbeams III

After the Program

Upon completing the most advanced level of the program, children are well-prepared to move into intermediate piano studies. Many students pursue a second instrument or choose to further their musical study in the areas of music history, theory or composition.
