Using keyboard playing, creative movement, music reading and theory, ear training and rhythm exercises, composing, and singing together, children learn to explore music and develop their strengths in a variety of musical areas. In addition, parents participate in the program and become learning companions with their children.
When To BeginThe MYC programs are designed in small, age-specific groups. The program is designed for children ages four to eight. There are three age-appropriate beginning levels, indicated below.
In addition to the regular keyboard centered programs, MYC also offers the "PUPS" program for children age birth to 2 years and the "SUNRISE" program for children age 3 years. After the ProgramUpon completing the most advanced level of the program, children are well-prepared to move into intermediate piano studies. Many students pursue a second instrument or choose to further their musical study in the areas of music history, theory or composition.
