Yamaha Woodwinds

We carry the range of Yamaha woodwind products including student and intermediate model flutes and clarinets, and soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones. Yamaha is the oldest musical instrument company in the world (founded in 1883), and Yamaha instruments are world-renowned for their precision in construction and for the level of quality control they receive.

Flutes

16-keyed and 17-keyed model flutes are available, with solid (filled) or open-holed keys. A variety of other options are available, including some models with gold keywork. Metal and Grenadillo wood piccolos are also available.

Flute stands and accessories along with method books are always kept in the store, and we carry a great deal of sheet music for flute, from both the popular and classical repertoires.

Clarinets

Yamaha student model clarinets are among our most popular instruments in the Brass & Woodwind department. Clarinet mouthpieces, ligatures, replacement pads and keys are all kept in the store. As well, we offer repadding, recorking and key repair services.

Clarinet instruction is offered through the Renaissance School of Music.

Saxophones

We regularly stock student and intermediate models of Yamaha alto and tenor saxophones in our Brass & Woodwind department. Professional and Custom models (including the Yamaha Z-series) are readily available by special order. Silver finished and black lacquered saxes are available, as are models with the high F# key. It is also possible to order both student and professional model baritone saxophones.

Sax instruction is offered through the Renaissance School of Music.

Jupiter Woodwinds

We are pleased to be able to offer the Jupiter line of woodwind instruments, new this fall. Jupiter has been producing high-quality instruments since 1930 and has established an excellent reputation for their quality-made instruments for music students and players of any level.

Flutes

Jupiter flutes are available with a variety of options, including open or filled holes, a low B footjoint, inline or offset G/A keys, and curved headjoints to suit younger players.

Clarinets

A range of Jupiter clarinets are available through Renaissance, including models with the Jupiter Intonica barrel (an adjustable barrel for ease of tuning). The Jupiter 631SMO Standard Clarinet was awarded the Music Industry Association's Award for Best Woodwind Instrument in 2005.

Saxophones

Jupiter saxes are well-known for their quality and craftsmanship. Standard features on both altos and tenors include a high F# key, waterproof pads, an articulated G# key with a tilting B flat rocker arm, and a woodframe or backpack case.

Reeds

We carry a wide selection of Rico, Rico Royal, La Voz and Vandoren reeds in all strengths for clarinet, alto, tenor and baritone sax, and bass clarinet. Plasticover reeds are also available, as are flavoured reeds.

Oboe and bassoon reeds are stocked as well, as are reeds for bagpipe practice chanters.
